Staff gear review by Alayna Shepard
There are so many crampons on the market these days it can be hard to choose! I have demo’d and tested so many, yet there is one that has always stood out as a favorite. That is the Black Diamond Neve Pro. These semi-automatic crampons are the perfect balance for any adventure. They have held up through ice climbing adventures–along with dry tooling–and are ideal for mountaineering and ski mountaineering missions. They are an ultra-light, compact crampon that does not sacrifice durability or performance.

The Neve Pros are made of aluminium and have 10 points of contact. They are easily adjustable with no tools, making them perfect for any adventure. They also have multiple adjustment points offering a versatile fit. Additionally, the Neve Pro uses a cable system that allows them to fold in half making them small and perfect to fit in your pack whether it be a quick day trip or a multi-day adventure. Though the aluminium is not meant for long days of dry tooling or ice climbing, they are still a strong contender in the crampon game, as they are ideal for glacier travel and ski mountaineering missions.

I personally love the Neve for ski mountaineering and high alpine adventures. They fit easily in my pack and are ultralight. They also go on and off my ski boots with ease. I would absolutely recommend these crampons for anyone doing any sort of mountaineering adventure! These would be a perfect crampon if Baker is an objective you’ve been looking at forever. The Neve Pro will not let you down!
