Well then, we want you! We typically hire folks late in the summer as we start to gear up for winter. During our busy winter season, we're looking for experienced Ski Technicians and Bootfitters (and all-around awesome people). Ski Boot Fitter

Backcountry Essentials is a locally owned outdoor gear shop in Bellingham, WA. We’re known for quality gear, honest advice, and great service. We’re looking for an experienced ski boot fitter to join our winter team.

You should have a solid understanding of foot anatomy, ski boot design, and how footbeds contribute to comfort and performance. In this role, you’ll assess foot structure, recommend the right boot models, and make adjustments—like liner molding, shell shaping, and custom footbeds—to get the best fit possible.

We’re looking for someone with boot fitting experience, solid product knowledge, and strong people skills. You’ll be part of a small, supportive team that values good communication and a shared love for the outdoors. Ski Technician 

Backcountry Essentials is a locally owned outdoor gear shop in Bellingham, WA, known for quality gear, honest advice, and great service. We’re looking for a Ski Technician to join our winter team.

You’ll be responsible for a range of ski and board maintenance tasks, including binding mounts and adjustments, tuning, waxing, and base repairs. You’ll inspect gear for needed repairs, ensure bindings are set and tested properly, and help customers understand their equipment so they feel confident heading into the mountains.
